We are a new grassroots initiative led by and for people involved in all aspects of heritage in their communities, whether a community-focussed group with interests in the local heritage, or a heritage group with roots in the community.

After consultation with communities before Covid, the message came back clearly for a national network representing the views, concerns and aspirations of local community groups interested in their local heritage. In particular, the Scottish Community Heritage Alliance aims to

  • provide support and networking at a regional level.

  • provide advocacy, representing grassroots concerns.

  • initiate research which can support our work.

Why a new group? Many individuals and groups feel that the big players claim to speak on behalf of the grassroots organisations, though without adequately canvassing their views, or understanding of regional differences. A new grassroots organisation can represent these views, and advocate for change.

As members you will have a direct input into priorities and ways of working. We hope to hold regional meetings and outreach, with a mixture of online and in person.

Whether you are part of an existing group which would like to affiliate, or an individual, we want to hear from you.
